Sherry Douden - Executive Director

I have experienced grief often and early in my life.  In fact, in my early 20’s I had been present with four beloved family members as they transitioned from life to death. The transitions caused me to pause and not only take a look at how I was living, but how I was loving. In fact, after my husband of 9 years passed away, I transitioned from a Business Degree and working in retail, to Counseling Psychology and later founded “New Mourning”  in 2004. A lot has happened since those early days, but one thing remains the same. Many of us are ill prepared for losses, even those that occur through healthy life transitions like graduating high school, starting a family, or starting a new job.

Meet the Team

I see my role as a therapist as helping clients to identify the areas where they’re stuck and guiding them, in a collaborative way, to discover their own inner resources.

I see myself as an enthusiastic and goal oriented professional with great deal of experience working with individuals with acute disorders.

Michelle Walters is an Associate Marriage and Family therapist who is experienced in working with PTSD issues.

My strength based approach to working with families, couples, and children allows for a safe space for processing difficult transitions.

Eddie is experienced with working with people suffering from substance abuse, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, PTSD, and various trauma.

I use a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to therapy, while providing a warm space to support your needs and concerns.

I support my clients in identifying their strengths and apply my professional training to assist them in working through life’s challenges.
